目前,我打算把这一系列文章归纳入“feature articles—career and development in research & academia+ learning experience in the UK” 。我也尝试把文章准备成双语版本
现今小弟想征求各位读者的意见, 看还有什么文章题材才这儿没提到,然而大家又很想知道与了解的。谢谢哦:-)

I agreed you to tell us more about the research culture in overseas, so that we can compare and learn. Sometimes i think it is really not easy to do research, while most i met now they tend to think that doing research can give them a space for publication, be well known, more funding, a discovery of new technique and treatment. While, i always keep in mind that research is meant for hardwork, and no one can based on one paper/research project to conclude everything. There are usually two group of researcher in our country (from what i observed), one is what i mentioned above, one is actually has the spirit that wants to know more based on their knowledge and work out. Nevertheless, more funding gave to first group, while the latter group usually was thought the work they doing won't generate any useful benefit to the society, and they are the one (the talented that we need) actually being missed out here. Really, to do research here must think twice, because anytime u will be fed up with the dummy system and eventually, give up.
Will stay tune on your observation and sharing of research cultures in UK. ^^
waiting for it =) gogo
@Elaine: haha, thanks...and so happy to get your comment again, since the one i received previously was 3 months ago..keke..will get their opinions asap, after my master project.
@Wen Ni: thanks for your comment. Points taken and noted, I will bring some issues into discussion with my colleague during coffee break..wakaka..
as you mentioned, sometime it's very hard to define a set of goals or accomplishments in research (i.e. you must ""produce something from studies involved rather than fill in the knowledge gap) and this is not the way to discover new knowledge. However, different mind set (focus on profit, gain rather than the process) and limited funding available are several drawbacks hinder the research progress.
anyway, hope the young generation researchers, and early entry scientists can refresh the research culture in msia, and this only gain through interaction, networkings with ppl across the world, learn strengths from others. If we still confine ourselves in a limited space, then we will never improve and learn anything
yup, for sure, will share what i observe&learn here, and hope we can get some bright ideas, gain new insight, and realise what "research" is..
cheers
TUN, i am bac
keep on the good work
i really impress wit ur hard work n for being so voluntary providing ur reader opinion, sharing, expereince, advices for their future undertake weather in working or reseaching in uk.
my opinion is every feild of work we do,the most importnat thing wit our own interest.like wat u say,i a char keu teow fella can be very happy n satisfaction although he/she need to stand on working yet sweet like hell in front of the stove.
somehow not every one in this world can work following thier will.eg: a prostitude who r illiterate and force herself to do wat v say "immoral" in order to survive.there is other reason/factor y affected their decision making..
for research part, how many of reseacher hav the opportunity to perform their goals?sometime budget, self disipline, commitment etc may drag them from fullfilling their dream.
how many of people like TUN who hav a dream and yet being so independent n motivated to help up the african child so that nex time they no longer need to suffer hunger.
how many of TUN,who can be so spontant to go look for seek for uni intake, scolar, funding, proposal writing etc to achive ur goals.
for me,the most important thing at first the character education(人格朔造).i donno how ur parents, skol, teacher, environment educate you since u were small lead u to today a such a great character now. u plan,u maintain routine dispcipline,u look n seek for opportunity to achive ur goal
if possible i wish to noe also how u been (some history) thru ur tough time since small lead u to today's such a "unique" character.as far as i noe,u were b4 train mostly by ur cousin during st. john,u do admire some office at st john, father is a gerakan fella n u were invited most of the time to do gerakan activity.
i owes don believe a success fella are not a true born guy,
for sure he need to undergo tough time, practise, expereicen and etc
looking forward for ur sharing post
good luck ck,
wish u succes for ur futre undertake
gambateh :)
haha XD may be can add this stupid simple question.
"Why Research"
XD kakaka
to tan sri liang: very impressive comment, salute!
@Wen Ni, haha..undeniable tan sri liang memang 文采风流,让人看/读了口水一直流。I impressed with his advance thought, and his point of views that lie on rational approach..Keep it good work, tan sri.! :-p
@Marccus:haha, marccus you get the point, not stupid but brilliant. . Bck to basic and simple question: why want to do research. A question I came across in the previous interviews, haha
@yee kai
hi tan sri, welcome back. Thanks for your compliment. Well, I am pleased with the opportunity I have thus far(undeniable I have put hard works to achieve it), and therefore I think it’s time for me to contribute, after getting so many correspondences about research life, study abroad, UK Edu, etc. Even though, I can’t share it face to face, but I still manage to communicate through blogs, and as you mentioned, “together we learn”. Through comments, I learn about the research works in home country and you guys can learn about culture from other countries :-p.
i have gone through so many “tough paths” and of course I don’t hope my dear friends, siblings suffer like me, and hope info I share can lead them to a right path rather than to “ho lan”. I have gained many exposures that of which I can’t learn in home and therefore I should share the bitter and sweet parts of research, and career in academia.
Yes, every time we heard about stories of successful persons, and they always mentioned interest served. However, how many ppl manage to do so, many factors involved as you mentioned. And undeniable this is the reality of our society, and what we hope is try to improve the society, reduce no. of ppl that work against their will.
Research is tough, and therefore not all ppl manage to handle these challenges, but I do believe “where there’s a problem, there’s a solution”. We can’t achieve everything as we expected, “there’s a gain and there’s a loss. This is largely depends on how do we look at the problem? To what extent we manage to offer alternative strategies and solve the problem.
There is no easy for way anyone to achieve their goals. I believe attitude, exposures and character play great roles. There is not point if only one “TUN” to fight alone. Instead, we should share, learn and motivate each others. Hopefully, one day we can produce more “TUN”
I don’t mind to share my life experience, my opionis on particular issues and my route to phd. Please bear with me, and we will learn, share and improve.
Lastly, thank you for your support, hope to get some nice articles and share then.
All the best to you and others as well
Cheers :-)
